Southern Cross, False Cross & Diamond Cross

The Southern Cross constellation is sometimes confused with to other nearby asterisms which also resemble a cross, these are the 'Diamond' cross and the 'False' cross. The Southern cross can be distinguished by using the two 'pointer' stars, alpha and beta Centauri which can be seen more clearly in this image here.
